Muscle Energy Techniques (MET), Eddie O’Grady Physical Therapy, Tralee

“A Muscle Energy Technique is defined as a form of soft-tissue treatment in which the patient’s muscles are actively used, on request, from a precisely controlled position, in a specific direction, and against a distinctly executed therapist-applied counterforce. The key defining element of MET is the use of an isometric contraction before subsequent relaxation and stretching or movement of restricted tissues.”

Eddie O’Grady (BSc.Hons)M.I.A.P.T. Physical Therapist

I use the Muscle Energy Technique (MET) at our clinics in Tralee and Dingle to help patients realise the full potential of their body and to assist with the rehabilitation of damaged muscles.

MET is particularly useful for competitors and athletes and helps to:

  • Strengthen muscles
  • Relax cramped muscles
  • Stretch muscles
  • Regain muscle function

Fully qualified in Muscle Energy Techniques, I will first complete a full assessment before using these techniques in any treatments.

No discomfort or pain is felt when using Muscle Energy Techniques administered by a fully qualified practitioner.

If you are interested in learning more about MET and how it can benefit you, please get in touch any time.
