Neurodynamic Techniques, Physiotherapy, Tralee

Neurogenic disorders are common and their incidence is underestimated. With many recent developments in the science of neurodynamics they can often now be treated with non-invasive physical methods, ”neurodynamic techniques”. This involves the use of nerve glides and to a lesser extent nerve tensioners to treat nerve related conditions. These are controlled by the practitioner (Eddie O’Grady) and performed in a graded manner. The concept of finding a ”position of ease” to relax the nerve and relieve it of stress is
also important in the treatment. Another key aspect to consider in this type of treatment is the involvement of the musculoskeletal system. After all, many neural problems have their causes originating within the musculoskeletal system. Unfortunately in the past the emphasis was on mobilizing the nervous system per se, and not integrating it with work on and treatment of problems/causes within the musculoskeletal system. Neural mobilizations, particularly stretches, have at times been the mainstay of treatment, rather than being applied in a way that addresses how the body really moves, that is, in an integrated fashion that includes the relational dynamics between both the neural and musculoskeletal systems.

Neurodynamic techniques are the key to dealing with physical well-being and sensitivity issues related to the central nervous system. Here at our clinic in Tralee we often include these techniques for those who are suffering with nerve related conditions.
